"Asking the Right Questions" (ARQ): How Faculty Can Use Student Feedback to Figure Out How to Improve their Courses

"Asking the Right Questions"  (ARQ) is a collection of modules (model feedback forms and workshop materials about how faculty can use those forms).   Some of the forms are descendents of classroom assessment techniques pioneered by Angelo and Cross, while many others are new and often focused on particular uses of technology in on-campus and online courses.

This online workshop will help you learn how to use a few of those feedback forms to improve courses and workshops.   We'll also talk about how to improve these ARQ materials, and how an institution can gradually help an increasing number of faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants try them out.

Note: a typical ARQ workshop is only about 10-15 minutes long. In each of our hour-long sessions we'll try doing at least two ARQ workshops, and spend the balance of the time critiquing the materials and discussing options for making wide use of them.

Participants in this OLI Workshop
Faculty are welcome. We are especially interested in helping staff in faculty development programs, teaching centers, faculty support units in Information Technology, library staff, distance learning staff, and others who help faculty improve teaching.

Price: FREE, but open only to subscribing institutions and individual members.

All of the TLT Group’s online offerings include use of “low threshold” tools, examination of controversial issues, options for participants with a range of experience, and suggestions for assessment as you integrate what you’ve learned into your repertoire.      Participants for this workshop should sign-in 15 minutes early for tech instructions and to meet others in the group; they also have the option of remaining online for a half-hour follow-up discussion immediately after the workshop.
