Discussion Questions

  • What are some purposes and conditions for which traditional classroom lectures are especially helpful?  Some of your favorites when you were a learner?

  • What are some  purposes and conditions for which traditional classroom lectures are unlikely to be helpful?  Some of the worst examples you encountered in your own learning?

  • Same questions for online lectures - live, pre-recorded, audio only, full video,...etc.

  • What are some of your favorite strategies, resources for enhancing or replacing lectures?

  • In what ways are traditional classroom lectures the same as any online resources?  Texts, recordings, ….?

An interesting blog post to add to the mix.  This came to us from our good friend and TLT Senior Associate, Ilene Frank. "Derrick's Story" by David Greene, Thursday, October 22, 2015.

Another reaction to the article this time by Rebessa Schuman Professors Shouldn’t Teach to Younger Versions of Themselves Thanks for sharing this with us Trey Mireles.
