Grade/Assess MORE students with LESS work?

Update on Computer-Supported Grading and Reviewing of Student Work and Other Scalable Approaches

Ed GehringerAssoc. Prof. Comp. Sci., North Carolina State U.
Steve Gilbert, TLT Group

How can computer-supported grading and reviewing of students’ work  provide more and better feedback to students?  Deepen learning?  While decreasing, or at least not increasing, faculty workload?

This session will introduce and summarize emerging computer- supported  options for larger-enrollment courses:

Grading (including Automated Grading, Constructed Response Analysis,  Automated Essay Scoring);
Reviewing  (including Calibration and Reputation Systems);
Peer Review will be emphasized;
Self Review, and Peer Grading will be explained.

Gehringer and colleagues will also describe the purpose and progress of PeerLogic, an NSF-funded research project that works on providing web services for educational peer review systems, including: Metareview Services, Visualization Services, Summarization Services, Reputation Services, Reviewer Assignment, and Data Warehouse & Analytics.  More about these

We’ll also announce a relevant conference workshop in June and invitation for summer research.

NOTE:  Login instructions for the session will be sent in the Registration Confirmation Email. Please check your Junk folder as sometimes these emails get trapped there. We will also send an additional login reminder a few hours prior to the start of the event.

REALLY IMPORTANT NOTE: You can become a TLT Group Individual Member for one year for $75.  You'll be supporting just the sort of event you just registered for.  Please join us!

Listen during the session for this week's special membership offer.
