2010 Carnegie Foundation/C.A.S.E. National Professor of the Year, John Zubizarreta is Professor of English and Director of Honors and Faculty Development at Columbia College, South Carolina. The U.S. Professors of the Year program salutes the most outstanding undergraduate instructors in the countryundefinedthose who excel as teachers and influence the lives and careers of their students. It is recognized as one of the most prestigious awards honoring undergraduate teaching. Zubizarreta has received many awards and recognition for teaching and scholarly excellence. He has published widely and is a frequent conference presenter on the topic of improving college teaching, and learning and academic leadership. He has mentored educators nationwide and internationally on developing teaching and administrative portfolios. Zubizarreta has taught at Columbia College for 22 years where he lauds its collaborative learning and discussion-based teaching environments. In this FridayLive!, Steve Gilbert will talk with Dr. Zubizarreta about his undergraduate teaching as well as his work as Director of Faculty Development at Columbia.
