Tuition-Free University: A Look at University of the People

April 1, 2011 at 2pm ET - free to all.

Presenters: Ilene Frank, Director of Library Service, University of the People

The World Bank expects 160 million students will need an education by 2025. University of the People provides one model for delivering post-secondary education.  University of the People ( is the world's first tuition-free, online, global university.  Ilene Frank has volunteered her services as Director of Library Services. She will provide more information on this university, now in its second year, and guide us through its history, accomplishments and challenges.  University of the People is a nonprofit venture launched by Shai Reshef in 2009.  Named "Game Changer" in education by the Huffington Post in 2010 for his vision of accessible higher education,  Mr. Reshef has been working with the Yale Law School Information Society Project, UN-GAID, World Computer Exchange and the Haitian Connection Network to further the aim of making quality education available world-wide and tuition-free.

NOTE:  Login instructions for the session will be sent in the Registration Confirmation Email. Please check your Junk folder as sometimes these emails get trapped there. We will also send an additional login reminder 24 hours prior to the start of the event.
