Bringing TED to Class - Hosting Virtual Conferences
Oct. 7, 2011 at 2pm ET - free to all.
Guests: Michael Amlung, University of Georgia
Integrating online content with the college classroom can help make courses more relevant and tailors our teaching to our students’ virtual worlds. I will be discussing the implementation of a "Virtual Conference" using TED.com in my undergraduate psychology courses at the University of Georgia
. Students viewed a series of lecture podcasts by prominent psychologists via TED Talks, wrote brief commentaries on each lecture, and integrated what they learned in a short reflection paper.
Audience members will learn how to incorporate online resources like TED.com into their courses, with particular emphasis on adapting this activity for a broad range of disciplines.
NOTE:
Login instructions for the session will be sent in the Registration Confirmation Email. Please check your Junk folder as sometimes these emails get trapped there. We will also send an additional login reminder 24 hours prior to the start of the event.
