3 Gens: Teaching, Learning, Faculty Development

November 2, 2012  2:00-3:00 pm ET - free to all.

Presenters: Milt Cox, Derek Bruff, and App Guys Steve Kaufman & Tim Lombardo

Is higher education changing too fast or too slowly?  In the past few decades, higher education has often been criticized for changing too fast AND for changing too slowly.

This multi-generational panel will focus on the past, present, and future of how we teach, how we learn, and how faculty members adapt. We’ll try to “clothe the emperor” [see below]

Questions we will discuss:

  • Which widely advocated improvements in teaching and learning have been most surprising?  most disappointing?  most over-hyped and under-used?
  • Which tech “advances” have been most surprising?  most disappointing?  most sneaked up and caught on before we knew what we were doing?
  • Which improvements are your favorites?  “Unsung heroes” - deserving of much more recognition and use?
  • When and why did the “flipped classroom” stop being the dominant model and become a rarity?
  • Is Charles Dickens always right?  “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

NOTE:  Login instructions for the session will be sent in the Registration Confirmation Email. Please check your Junk folder as sometimes these emails get trapped there. We will also send an additional login reminder 24 hours prior to the start of the event.
