FridayLive!
Frugal Innovation and Faculty Sharing Further/Forward
Steve Gilbert, Steve Ehrmann, Bonnie Mullinix, the TLT Group
This FridayLive! session will discuss what we've learned and what we're trying to do about Frugal Innovation - matching new options with changing needs. We continue to extend the work begun in the TLT Group's 2nd Annual Online Symposium about Faculty Support, especially about ways of enabling and encouraging more rapid, effective sharing among faculty members and other academic professionals.
We'll discuss implications of the dizzy, accelerating pace of change in capabilities, availability, and use of handheld devices and online resources that are not owned or controlled by colleges or universities. (Some of the most important ones are not owned or fully controlled by students or faculty either!). Are Netbooks and Smartphones overtaking laptops? Who will need, in addition two-screen hybrid e-readers: "Devices to Take Textbooks Beyond Text" New York Times, Dec 6, 2009.
We'll introduce TLT Group's new Frugal Innovation Starter Package and Emergency Transition Toolkit, which we're developing in the Spirit of Open Source. We'll discuss our hopes, how you can help, and how you can benefit.
Don't forget that you can register for a FridayLive! FASTPASS. This enables you to attend FridayLive! every session without registering.
